The New Guy: TOMS

Hey guys! We know it's been a while since we last posted, but life can get crazy. Life can also get crazy in the world of shoes. Shoes shoes shoes shoes! It's something we all love. Though as much as we love shoes, wouldn't it be great to have something where we could buy shoes, but give back to the world at the same time? I think it would. That's why there's the ultimate pair of shoes that are becoming extremely popular. They're the special canvas type shoes that look adorable and across the heel is a little blue and white flag. Haven't guessed yet? They're called TOMS.

TOMS are uniquely designed shoes that when you buy a pair, they give a pair to children in need. Not only are they for a good cause, but they look adorable. Blake Mycoskie is the designer and main idealist for these shoes. Not only is TOMS officially selling shoes, they are now selling sunglasses.

TOMS have spread worldwide and not only do they just sell shoes, they also have other movements. For example, they also have movements such as a day without wearing shoes, or other events. If you're interested in buying a cute pair of shoes and giving a pair to another child, get to it! But, as a fair warning, don't go buying BOBS. As...uniquely styled as they are...TOMS are the real deal and the way to go. Visit the link below if you want to buy a pair:

Honey, I'm home!

Chemicals. They seem to saturate our lives day in and day out. Aside from the fact we use them for cleaning, we use them in other things too, like shampoos, conditioners, face-masks, mouthwash, soaps and tons of other things that we use on our bodies. Even though we personally love all those little chemical things, we thought that we would try and take a natural spin on things along with our other little items to keep us looking fresh. What does natural look like today? One word: honey!

According to the dictionary, honey is a sweet food made from bees that take nectar from flowers. This means that honey is one of the most natural things on the planet. Besides being delicious and sticky, honey has other purposes aside from being eaten. Honey can be used as all sorts of things. Here are some easy, fun things you can do with honey in the world of beauty:
  1.  Needing to stop a pimple in your tracks?  Mix a dab of honey with a tiny bit of cinnamon powder, then apply it to your pimple, whitehead or blackhead overnight. Make sure you don’t roll onto your front for at least half an hour to let it dry completely. In the morning, rinse it off and if the pimple still looks bad, you can try applying honey again.
  2. Ran out of mouthwash on the beginning of a big day? No problem. Instead of rushing to the story or throwing a stick of gum in your mouth, try using this natural recipe instead. A glass of warm water with a teaspoon of fresh honey and a little bit of cinnamon powder tastes much better than some mouthwashes or gums. It also helps prevent irritating your throat and mouth like artificial chemicals might.
  3. For a simple and easy honey face mask, all you have to do is apply honey to your face (only pure honey, ladies!). Let this sit for fifteen minutes and once that time is up, rinse your face with warm water.
  4. Your face feeling a little greasy and dirty? Honey is a quick fix for this problem too. Mix 1 teaspoon of honey with a little milk powder into the palm of your hand. Apply on your face to clean away dirt and makeup and then rinse with warm water.
  5. Hair can get really bland really fast. So, to amp up your hair, use honey to make it shinier. To add some shine to your hair, mix 1 teaspoon of honey, a squeeze of fresh lemon and 1 quart of warm water. Shampoo your hair as usual and then pour the honey mixture on your hair. Allow your hair to air dry. You do not have to rinse out the honey mixture.
  6. Feeling like you want to condition your luscious locks? Perfect! For a healthy hair and scalp, combine ½ cup of honey and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Saturate your hair with the honey mixture, put on a shower cap and keep it on for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, shampoo and rinse your hair as you normally would.
  7. For a final treat after a long day at school, work or sports, it's time for a bath. A honey bath! For sweet smelling and soft skin, add ¼ to ½ cup of honey to your bath water.

There are so many different ways to utilize the natural resources around us, and honey is only one way to do so. There are also a ton of other things you can do with honey, besides the seven that we listed here. So ladies, let's sit back, relax and let the honey do our work.

Belle Odeur

Smells. They surround us every single day of our life. Maybe it's the smell of gross, sweaty boy B.O., or maybe it's the smell of the hot dog guy on the street. The possibilities are endless. While those smells may not be...the best smells on Earth, there are a few that stand out. Perfume and cologne. Without those two simple things, we'd probably live in a world fragrance-free, and that would be crazy bad. So, once we started thinking more and more about fragrances, we decided it was high time we find out the newest fragrances of 2012.

While David Beckham is a sports soccer star (try saying that five times fast), he's also coming out with his newest cologne called Instinct Sport. This new smell is going to be coming out this March! He's not the only one who is coming out with a new fragrance though, because Fendi is also stepping in. They have not yet released the new name of their cologne, but it will be coming out this spring/summer, so guys, be on the look out! Yves St. Lauren (YSL) dares to dazzle us yet again, by coming out with three new scents in March and April (La Nuit de L'Homme Cologne Frozen, Opium Vapeurs de Parfum and Parisienne L'Eau). Don't be afraid to jump into one of those fantastic perfumes. And oh my, if that's not enough, our very own Marc Jacobs is coming out with a new perfume called Splash Hibiscus and Kumquat. While that sounds like an interesting scent, we put our full trust and respect towards Mr. Jacobs. And last, but certainly not least, Armani is coming out with a fragrance in May called Armani Code Luna.

Now for our pretty little celebrities (besides Mr. Beckham)! Jennifer Lopez is coming out with her new perfume called J Low Glowing, which is coming out this month. We're interested to see how good it smells and how popular it will be. Mr. Kanye West is coming out with a fragrance, though it's remaining top secret so nobody knows what it's titled or when it's coming out. But, we do know that he's working with Parlux. Very spectacular in her show and powerful voice, Lady Gaga is going to introduce us to a fragrance of her own. We don't know the title to this either, aside from the fact that she's working with Coty. But if her perfume is as crazy as her style, bring it on! Madonna is coming out with a perfume this month called Truth or Dare. Will you just try it, or be dared to?

Good luck on finding a perfume for 2012 fit for you!

Access to Accessories

Bright and Bold
Match Like This
Accessories are a really fun thing to play with. The items that are considered accessories are: jewelry, scarves, hats, sunglasses and belts - even purses are sometimes considered accessories. Accessories can be wild; they don't have to match exactly what you're wearing; they're the one thing (besides shoes and purses) that doesn't have to look totally coordinated. If you are going bright and bold then be playful and do the same with you accessories. Being bright is energetic. Although darker jewelry and accessories are good and sometimes what the outfit needs, don't be afraid to jump into brighter more outstanding items. If you are going with the winter style than do the same as with bright and bold; you want your jewelry to stand out, not fall in. Match the outfit to the right extent. If you are wearing a black dress don't wear all black jewelry; you don't want things to get lost. When it comes to scarves, hats, and belts its a bit different then with jewelry. Although the belts don't always have to match the scarves and hats do while at the same time they don't. Sticking to a black or toned down hat is the best way to go so that it looks cute but doesn't take away from our outfit. But if you are wearing a less colorful outfit, don't be afraid to dress it up with brighter hats. Scarves are mutually the same.  Mix it up. If you're wearing a blander outfit, dazzle it up with a bright scarf and if you're wearing a dazzling outfit, bland it out with a simple scarf. Sunglasses should normally consist of neutral colors if you're feeling really confident then you can go big and bright, but we like to stay within safe but sultry boundaries. With these few tips you will bring your outfit to the perfect tee.

Booty Call

There are lots of things to love in the world. There's good music, actors, movies, books and clothes. Yet the one thing in life that seems to be so beautifully loved and respected is...shoes! Shoes are a girl's best friend through thick and thin. They're with her when she's walking through the mall, running a marathon or walking to do the hardest thing in her entire life. So, why not cover the new shoe trends for 2012?

Spring and Summer hold just as much excitement as shoes can get. Marc Jacobs has done it again with his newest design on sneaker wedges. On the left we can see that the sneakers look both young and hip with the perfect amount of elegance thrown in. If there's one thing he can do amazingly it's shoes. Another type of shoes that are totally in is Steve Madden's platform wedges. No matter what the designer, wedges are something every girl must own. Even I have a pair that I wish I could wear year round. If that isn't enough for you, Alexander Wang is gracing us with pointy toed heels that are absolutely to die for. These adorable shoes can either be dressed up or dressed down perfectly. Thick, chunky heels are also in. You might be wary to try them and we were too, but after trying a pair it was totally worth it. As Spring and Summer jump at us it's a great idea to buy a couple new pairs of shoes.
What about Winter and Fall? Well we're glad you asked! Shoes around that time of year are not just meant to keep our feet warm but to also help us pull the whole look of our outfits together. As always, Uggs are what's in. Even though Uggs have been in for a while, they definitely are what's in style. They're not only cute but super comfortable. And if Ugg boots aren't enough, there are plenty more boots to go around. Boots are the top priority in the fashion world currently. In Winter and Fall, pointy toes are also a big hit. As much as we'd all like to own a pair of boots, what is going to set us apart from the rest of the world? Besides normal boots, metallics are extremely popular, especially in Winter and Fall. It ranges from metallic flats to metallic boots and heels. So go get yourselves a pair of metallic shoes! And good luck arranging your booty calls for the year.

Capitol Cravings

March 23rd is the designated day set for the Hunger Games movie to finally premier. We don't know about you guys, but we're totally stoked for this! Not only are we excited to see the movies because we're lovers of the books, but we're also interested in the fashion they're putting into the movie. How are they going to incorporate fashion today to fashion in the future?
Effie Trinket plays a huge roll in the Hunger Games by acting as Katniss and Peeta's agent. She manages their time, over-looks their clothing and works out the details of their new lives. It's not hard to tell that Effie Trinket enjoys bright pastels, which are undoubtedly in this year. Though some of us may be wary to try pastels, brave fashion designers seem to be urging us to give it a try.
As you can see from the picture on the left, Effie is as into pastels as Louis Vuitton. The light pinks and yellows are exactly what are springing into Spring 2012. Not only are Louis and Effie into pastels, but Mulberry is also diving into pastels for their Spring collection.
Feeling like pastels this Spring? Us too! So, here are some simple and easy tips to help you get started.

  1. Pastels can be crazy, so let's start small. Getting a pair of pastel colored flats are a great start. Also painting your nails a pastel color (which can be painted with Capitol Colours, specifically designed for the Hunger Games).
  2. Feeling confident? Great! Then put on a nice pastel sweater or jacket. One small thing can make a world of differences.
  3. Ready to go big or go home? Deck yourself out in a pastel shirt, skirt, shorts or pants. It's all or nothing if you're ready to take a big leap. Just remember, we're aiming for cute, not Easter.
Good luck on finding great pastels, and go see the Hunger Games in theaters on March 23rd to watch Effie Trinket and her beautiful colors make their electrifying appearance.

What's in Style?

Marc Spring-Summer Collection by Marc Jacobs
Marc Jacobs' Marc fall collection
What's in style? That question is the PERFECT type of question.  But the real question you should be asking is "What's going to be in style?" Well guess what? We've got an answer to that.  And not only do we have details on up coming style but we also have some of the up comings of Marc by Marc Jacobs. For the spring and summer, Marc will be using bright colors, so get your electrifying outfits soon. When fall comes around, Marc is using dark, neutral faux furs and large hats to top it off - literally.
Now you may be thinking, "Why do I need to know Marc Jacobs' trends?". Well if the general fact that Marc Jacobs is a fashion god and that doesn't sell it for you then get this: we still have the trends that you can use to look in style and cool for THIS upcoming year.
     Spring:
The Spring trends this year will be like in our post (Bright and Bling).  The clothing will be bright with some sparkle.  Look at (Bright and Bling) for more ideas and details.
Spring, Summer, Fall,  and Winter trends
    Summer:
The Summer style is going to be bright but muffled.  Some metallic fabrics will be used in summer, so if you want to look super in the summer then walk around sporting silver and gold.
     Fall:
For Fall the colors and fabrics will be faux fur and dark neutrals also a few darker colors.
     Winter:
This Winters trends will be browns and some pale blues.  Look at the pictures for ideas.

Hard as Nails

Do
Nail polish can either take away from the outfit or add to it all depending on how you wear or use it. For instance, when you paint your nails and don't want to change it for awhile then choose a neutral color; if you really want to go out on the limb get a bright color that you're okay wearing for a while. Though we all love to have our nails painted, sometimes a simple French manicure does wonders. Not only does it add to your outfit, but it makes you look collected, elegant and up to date.
Don't
When you do a French manicure, a simple one is perfect. But if you want to be a little more spontaneous, a line of gold or silver always makes your nails stand out a little more. When you do a French manicure with a line under it, you should just do a clean white or black tip - any other color might make you look immature or trying too hard with your nails.
When you do diamonds, nail sticker, and or flowers keep it on a low scale. Too much of a good thing is a bad one.

Clean and Clear

For this post we are going outside the world of fashion and into the world of skin care. Skin care is so important. It keeps your face looking nice and your skin feeling rejuvenated. If your skin looks good, then you feel good.
Skin Care Tips
1. You do not need fancy skin products to have clear skin. Just a bar of soap and a wash cloth can make the biggest of differences. If you wash your face when you get up and when you go to bed it will go a long way.
2. If your lips are chapped or dry you can just put a little bit of olive oil in a bowl and pour some sugar in it until it is lumpy with the sugar. All you have to do now is apply to the lips and there you have it. Clean, moist, and beautiful lips.
3. If any of you play any type of sports you may want to wash your face after you sweat. The oil is what creates the blemishes.

Sexy or Suicide?

Let's just get one thing straight. You do not (and we repeat, do not) wear skinny jeans with a form fitting shirt. Our jeans are starting to rest lower on our hips, and even though we may be skinny, ladies, jeans like that with a tight shirt make us look like we have muffin tops. Also please, for the sake of Gucci and all things fashion holy, DO NOT pull your shirt back tight and put a rubber band around it. We know you want to look cute and like your clothes to fit well, but you're just starting to look desperate.
Now that you're all beginning to feel a little put out - don't worry, we're feeling a little down too - we need to brighten up the mood. To do that, here's another tip for you to look sexy and NOT suicide is: don't EVER wear boots with flair or boot cut jeans. Just because the jeans say they're boot cut, doesn't mean they are "cut for boots". And whatever you do, don't have your boot cut jeans be half in or half out of your boots. We all love boot cut jeans, but even if you tuck them in your boots all the way, they still look strange and baggy.  Go with a nice flat or heal; not only does it make the pants look better, it also makes you legs and butt look HOT!

(Looking good in skinny jeans!)                                                  Reasons why you don't do this:
      1. You DO NOT wear skinny jeans with a form fitting shirt. Why? Because if you have curves it will - or in some cases - make you look fat.
      2. DO NOT pull your shirt back tight and put a rubber band around it. It only makes you look desperate. Show off your curves the right way and look good doing it.
      3. DO NOT wear boots with flair or boot cut jeans. It makes you look like your outfit was thrown together and like you have no idea what you're doing.

                                                                 Things to do
    1. Instead of pairing tight with tight, do tight with flowy. For example, skinny jeans and a nice flowy baby doll shirt is always adorable. But if you really want to spice it up, wear a sparkly shirt instead of a plain one ;)
    2. Instead of pulling your shirt back with a rubber band, do something a little different. We know you want to show off your curves, so, wear a normal shirt and put a cute beaded or bedazzled belt around your waist. Another option is to just buy shirts that are a little more form-fitting.
    3. Even though you like your boots, your boot cut and flair jeans, for some reason they don't seem to like each other.  Instead of wearing flairs and boot cuts, do skinny jeans and boots or flair/boot cuts with flats/heels.

Bright and Bling

As you can see bright colors and bling is in right now.  Let us classify what bright colors and bling mean: try to wear bright but mature clothing. This doesn't mean dressing like you're from the seventies. When you hear the word "bright" you may think about butterflies, peace signs, and candy land; but it isn't.  Check out the pics of Kendall and Kylie Jenner in Teen Vogue. They are wearing bright cloths (another idea to see more bright clothes is to look in a magazine; Teen Vogue is recommended).  To classify yet another time when we say bling, we mean diamond jewelry or a sequined shirts/dresses. Even better, try a sparkly shoe for a dash of elegance. Simple yet tastefull. As we look at the Kardashian sisters in training (Kendall and Kylie), we see that they are wearing bright but mature clothing.  They know the way to go!
